We bought this simple one (app $20). You can make only two small types of railroad, and the simplest is a circle with 8 pieces of railroad.
However, at first, he could not even make this circular railroad.
So, this simple toy was perfect for him to start learning.
I started by making the railroad to him, showing him the male/female of the railroads.
After playing everyday, he was able to make the circle after a couple of weeks.
